My days in school as an assistant teacher geography was the entrusted subject. During that period which came to an end in 1996, it was a core subject in lower classes and became alternative in upper. With some major systematic changes geography remains an important subject in secondary level in schools in India now a days.



Geography is an essential subject that offers students a deeper understanding of the world around them. It goes beyond the simple act of memorizing countries and capitals, providing valuable insights into how human and physical processes shape the environment. There are several compelling reasons to study geography in school.

Firstly, geography enhances students\' awareness of global issues. It helps them comprehend the interconnection between various regions, economies, and ecosystems. For example, understanding climate change requires knowledge of how weather patterns interact with human activities, such as deforestation or industrialization.
